The Springfield Armory XD-M Elite OSP is a striker-fired 10mm pistol with a polymer frame, a 4.5-inch hammer-forged steel barrel and a Melonite finish. It holds 16+1 rounds, comes with two 16-round magazines, and weighs 31 ounces with an overall length of 7.6 inches. The META flat-face trigger has an integral overtravel stop, and the slide is optics-cut for a compatible red dot plate. A fiber-optic front sight and Tactical Rack U-Dot rear sight make up the sights, with a grip safety and trigger safety.

For an Idaho owner the XD-M Elite OSP is a full-size pistol for range work, competition or field carry, which the supplier names as its uses. The extended flared magwell and ambidextrous slide stop are part of the controls, and the optics-ready slide suits shooters who plan to add a red dot later. The configuration is built around a full-size grip and a 4.5-inch barrel.
